Laws are being misused: Pascal
Laws are being misused: Pascal
Deputy Head of Chancery in the French Consulate in Bangalore, Pascal Mazurier, who was accused of sexually assaulting his four-year-old daughter, on Friday said, “Many women, to settle scores with their husband, accuse them of raping their own children.”
Speaking at a press conference ahead of Father’s Day celebration, here on Saturday, he said, “A person is innocent until the court pronounces him/her guilty. The accused has the right to meet his family members. His links with family members should not be cut off because of some baseless allegations.”
His advocate Pierre Oliver Sur said Pascal was wrongly accused and his reputation tarnished, which affected his career beyond repair. “He has no news of his three children,” Sur, who is president of the Paris Bar Association, said.
His associate Clemence Witt said the link between the father and his children, which is far superior then any legal proceeding, has been broken due to the case.
Lawyer P B Appaiah said the family is asking permission from the court to at least allow Mazurier’s mother Jacqueline Maille to meet her grandchildren. “The paramount consideration is the welfare of the children. In some cases, mothers who falsely implicate the father, make them suffer. Can they take care of the children?” asked Appaiah.
He also said the family is contemplating to raise provisions under the Guardian and Wards Act before the court to establish contact with the children while the case is pending.
Agreeing with the lawyer, Kumar Jahagirdar, president of Children’s Rights Initiative for Shared Parenting (CRISP), said they had visited Pascal’s children.

Like a virgin, touched for very second time
Like a virgin, touched for very second time
AHMEDABAD: A plastic surgeon was in for a surprise recently — a boy and his girlfriend came to consult him for hymenoplasty, a procedure in which the hymen is reconstructed in women.
The boyfriend told the doctor that they were in love and had engaged in premarital sex for over a year. However, since the two belonged to different cultures, their parents were not in favour of their marriage and hence they had no choice but to part ways and get married to different people.
"The boy wanted me to restore the hymen so that the husband believes that the girl is a virgin on the wedding night," said Dr Hemant Saraiya, a plastic surgeon. "He said that he supported her as he did not want her to be in trouble for the hymen not breaking. This was the first case of a boyfriend accompanying his girlfriend for hymen reconstruction which indicated that the society is changing."
Saraiya said that he is routinely consulted by girls, coming along with their friends, to get hymen reconstructed before their wedding.
"Premarital sex is very common these days and while there are men who do not insist on their wives being virgins, there are many belonging to conservative families who insist on this 'virtue'," he said.
"Many girls who have had physical relations with various boyfriends get hymen reconstructed before marriage. While most girls come with their friends, one girl was accompanied by her mother."
In hymenoplasty, a mesh of tissues taken from inside the vagina walls is constructed into a hymen which, like the original structure, can break.
Dr Aashit Shah, another plastic surgeon, said that hymenoplasty was becoming a popular method to restore virginity in girls who have had premarital sex and were getting married to men other than their lovers. http://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/city/ahmedabad/Like-a-virgin-touched-for-very-second-time/articleshow/20451039.cms?intenttarget=no#.UcCOlggdqAY.facebook

Conmen cheat prospective groom in Delhi
Conmen cheat prospective groom in Delhi
NEW DELHI: If you are a suitor planning to meet your dream woman, here's some sobering news. A 38-year-old office executive from Najafgarh, promised a meeting with his prospective bride, was drugged and robbed of all his belongings in the second such heist in three months.
According to police, Nirmal Chand felt the need to settle down in life and placed an advertisement in a leading national daily for a matrimonial alliance in April earlier this year. On June 1, he received a call on his mobile purportedly from the brother of the prospective bride. The caller said that they should meet near Shastri Nagar Metro station on June 6. Chand reached the spot on his motorcycle where he was introduced to two men.
"The duo said the girl's mother wanted to meet him and they needed to wait for sometime. They offered him a cool drink. Chand lost consciousness soon. When he came to the next day, he found himself in just his underwear. His motorbike, purse and mobile were missing. It was only on Sunday that a badly shaken Nirmal Chand gathered the courage to lodge a complaint," said an investigating officer.
A source from north district said this is the second instance a suitor was tricked in such a manner in the past three months.
Police are now investigating whether the gang has a link with another that was operational across north India only last year. A 30 year-old woman was arrested from Delhi in August for allegedly duping several men in Rajasthan whom she 'married' before disappearing with the gold and other valuables. Five others who helped her have also been arrested.
According to police, the woman, identified as Annu Kumari, is a resident of Delhi. An FIR had been registered against her at Buhana in Jhunjhunu district by one Omprakash, who was one of her victims. http://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/city/delhi/Thieves-sell-marriage-dream/articleshow/20640048.cms?intenttarget=no

Rush hour for women pickpockets on Delhi Metro
Rush hour for women pickpockets on Delhi Metro
The number of pickpockets caught on the Delhi Metro is on the rise, with as many as 91% of them being women. According to the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) that mans Metro stations, 262 pickpockets were caught in 2012.
By comparison, the number so far this year is already 193, with 175 of them being women - and even minor girls in some cases.
The CISF could not provide a comparative figure for last year but said women's involvement in the crime has been unusually high this year.
"Most of these women operate in gangs," said an official.
"They look like ordinary working women carrying big handbags. They target busy Metro stations such as Rajiv Chowk, Kashmere Gate, Barakhamba Road and Central Secretariat during morning and evening peak hours. Not many suspect them as they are women, and they easily make away with huge amounts of cash."
Officials said most such cases are reported from stations, not moving trains. Also, the most vulnerable stations are those on the Gurgaon (yellow) and Dwarka (blue) lines.
On May 2, for instance, CISF guards caught eight women belonging to a gang at Kashmere Gate station.
"Many such pickpockets are caught with the help of CCTV footage. We also have our personnel in plain clothes patrolling the stations," said CISF DIG Udayan Banerjee.
"Some of the women were caught red-handed, while others could be apprehended after the local police shared their photographs with us."
Anuj Dayal, chief DMRC spokesperson, said many cases go unreported as victims often do not report the matter to the police.

Couples having premarital sex are husband and wife, says HC
Couples having premarital sex are husband and wife, says HC
In a ruling which might have a far reaching impact, the Madras high court has said if a couple in the right legal age indulge in sexual gratification, it will be considered a valid marriage and they could be termed as husband and wife.
"..if any couple choose to consummate their sexual cravings, then that act becomes a total commitment with adherence to all consequences that may follow, except on certain exceptional considerations," Justice C S Karnan said in his order.
He said that marriage formalities of tying a mangalsutra, garlands and rings were only for the satisfaction of society. Either party could approach a family court for declaration of marital status by producing documentary proof for a sexual relationship.
The judge also said once such a declaration is obtained, the couple can establish self as each others' spouse in any government records. Justice Karnan made these observations in his order on Sunday while modifying an April 2006 judgement of a family court in a maintenance case.
A family court in Coimbatore had ordered a man to pay Rs 500 maintenance per month to his two children and Rs 1,000 as litigation expenses and had held that the woman's wedding with him did not have any documentary proof.
In his judgement, Justice Karnan directed the man to pay her maintenance of Rs 500 a month from the date of petition (September 2000) and that the arrears be paid within three months.
